Virginia Union University’s alumni continue to thrive and accomplish the highest honors. Therefore, it is no surprise that one of VUU’s very own, Mrs. Blanche Moore, ‘71 has been appointed 2021 Henrico Christmas Mother.
Henrico Christmas Mother has been providing toys, new clothing, books, food, and other amazing Christmas gifts to children and seniors 65+ since 1945. This organization is important to the community because it helps families in need and is only made possible through the support of hundreds of volunteers like Mrs. Moore.
Mrs. Moore and her husband Dr. Roland Moore, also an alumnus of Virginia Union have been residents of Henrico County for the last 48 years. She is well-deserving of the honor, due to her years of community service to the Henrico Christmas Mother Council. She joined the council after retiring as a schoolteacher in 2015.
While on the council Mrs. Moore has had many roles, including recording secretary, historian, and co-chair of the books committee. In these positions, she showed up as nothing short of a fearless leader.
Virginia Union University National Alumni Association is proud to celebrate Mrs. Moore’s accomplishment in becoming the 2021 Henrico Christmas Mother.
